![]() ![]() All his basic punches and kicks from Final Fight were adapted into his basic ground and air attacks, and most of his other sprites (walking, jumping, being hit, etc.) were also adapted from the Final Fight sprites. His Bushin Gokusaken would later inspire a similar combo mechanic labeled "Target Combos" in Street Fighter III. Two specific moves based on Final Fight include the "Bushin Gokusaken" (which is based on his basic chain combo) and "Bushin Senpukyaku" (based on his "Whirlwind Kick" Super Attack). ![]() His fighting style is based on his moves from Final Fight games, but also has new powerful attacks due to the game's different gameplay. Guy, one of the selectable characters in Final Fight, appears in his classic red ninja gi, but his look is slightly modified, most notably in his ninja boots being replaced with Nike Dunks sneakers. The two series continuities are definitively merged in Street Fighter Alpha, which features two selectable Final Fight characters: Guy and Sodom. One of the characters in the background also has Guile's hairstyle, but this time it's not sure he's actually him, because he has a totally different outfit, probably being just a technician, and being in France he's probably French, rather than American.įinally, Haggar returns the favor after Zangief copied his Double Lariat in Street Fighter II, and now he can perform Zangief's own signature move, the "Spinning Piledriver".Ĭameo of the character with Guile's hairstyle. In the background of the game's first stage, Hong Kong, Chun-Li can be seen sitting at a table eating noodles.Īlso, the fight with Freddie, the boss of the second stage, France, takes place in an airport with people cheering in the background, thus resembling Guile's stage from Street Fighter II. This marks the earliest indication the two series were meant to share the same universe, before Final Fight characters became a staple addition of Street Fighter games. The OST Street Fighter II Complete File includes an artbook which mentions that Shiro, the white dog seen on the background of the Bay Area stage in Final Fight, is good friends with Sabu, Guile's family pet dog seen in his Street Fighter II ending. The car smashing stage in Street Fighter II. The stage also takes place in different locations, with the Final Fight one taking place in a gas station, while the Street Fighter II one takes place on a dock similar to Ken's stage in the game.Īnother reference can be seen in Zangief's fighting style as it appears to be partially based on Haggar's, specially in how he uses Haggar's signature move, the "Double Lariat". In Final Fight there also is a pipe useable to break the car, and the points awarded are different, but these differences may simply be for gameplay reasons. In both versions the player has to break a car within a time limit, but in Street Fighter II the car can be destroyed more than in Final Fight, and the car owner (that was the enemy Bred in Final Fight) no more comes in to find his car smashed. ![]() Scott, however, still retains a similar design and backstory to Cody.Īn element actually taken from Final Fight is the car smashing bonus stage. This issue was officially settled in the Street Fighter V online character encyclopedia, which included a profile for the two fighters on the intro, revealing them to be original characters named Max and Scott. Another popular theory is that the man is actually Joe from Street Fighter (and the other one would be Mike, still from Street Fighter). The first one very much resembles Cody from Final Fight, and many feel he's actually him. Street Fighter II, the actual sequel to Street Fighter, makes some references to Final Fight.Ī first reference is in the game's introduction, that features a blonde guy punching an african-american man, none of them being actual characters in the game. Many also feel that the game's main character, Cody Travers was originally intended to be Joe from Street Fighter, because of both characters being blonde and american, but this was never officially confirmed and may be simply a coincidence. In the actual release the title was changed to Final Fight, probably because of the very different gameplay.įor this reason the two series are considered to be ideally linked to each other.

![]() ![]() ![]() It was also extremely well packaged - something that Branch does with all its products - so it was in top shape once I had it all together. Putting it together was simple, and only took about 30 minutes, though I think having two people would reduce that significantly. All of the materials feel premium with a weight that only comes from good engineering. Great for WFH offices and commercial spacesĪt first glance, the Branch standing desk looks pretty generic, but the level of craftsmanship is apparent on closer inspection. For the price, I do wish this one included a standing mat, but that's my only complaint. The Vari is too big for my house, but it's still the best standing desk with an easy installation, an attractive design, simple, quiet controls and tons of space. And, it isn't loud when it's raising and lowering the adjustable height. The adjustable standing desk also comes with an optional storage mount to organize your cables - and a couple of sturdy hooks to hold a bag or headphones. The digital display on the electric control panel makes it easy to see the height of your desk, and it provides four buttons for setting custom desk heights. I did need help moving the top of the desk onto a flat surface for the installation (make sure the surface is cushioned to avoid scratching it) - and flipping over the finished desk at the end, but there was minimal hardware and few steps involved overall. It was surprisingly easy to install, too, considering it's the heaviest desk of the bunch. The steel legs are very sturdy and you can adjust the feet if there's any wobbling. I got the "reclaimed wood" finish, but the top is really made of plastic (although it doesn't look cheap). This stable standing desk looks nice, too. Measuring 60 inches wide, with a depth of 30 inches, providing ample desktop area and a weight capacity of 200 pounds, the Vari electric desk can easily hold a dual monitor work setup using monitor arms and pretty much any other office accessories or desktop options you need. Best standing desksĪt $795, the Vari Electric Standing Desk is expensive, but it's also the best standing desk I tested. ![]() Each model is a little different, but they all share one key feature: the ability to raise or lower on demand to suit your specific home office needs. ![]() I tested a lot of standing desks of various prices, styles and options to get to this list of favorites. Check out these tips on how to position your desk for maximum comfort, whether you're sitting or standing. While standing instead of sitting might not lead to weight loss, it's still shown to help moderate blood sugar faster following a meal and reduce the potential for back or shoulder pain (although you might be trading that for leg or foot pain). Other estimates are significantly higher. Scientists are still studying the extent of the health difference between sitting and standing, but some research shows that an average person burns 8 additional calories per hour of standing instead of sitting. That's bad news for office workers, but swapping out a regular desk for a standing version can make a difference. Sitting for long stretches isn't healthy it's associated with cardiovascular disease, obesity and other potential health risks. If you're worried you'll have to stand forever, it's OK: The best standing desks can switch between standing and sitting mode, allowing you to sit down when you're just not feeling up to being on your feet. One thing that can help with that is a standing desk, which is a lot better for your body's health. Pain in your lower back can be helped by using one of the best office chairs, but neck pain and other aches often stick around the whole time you are sat down. Whether you're working from home or in an office, you'll know the discomfort of sitting in one place for too long. ![]() ![]() It’s held together by adhesives and wooden pins, which can handle up to 30 pounds, and is perfect for someone with a small turntable and just a few records they listen to occasionally. Way Basics Vintage Vinyl Record Cube 2-Shelf Storageįor a light vinyl collection, or a small space, this shelf may be all you need. The six shelves not only offer plenty of space for a pretty extensive amateur collection, they also give you a sizable flat surface up top, perfect for a turntable and speakers, or even a TV.Īssembly is easy, and can be put together in under an hour with all the tools included.Ĥ. This six-cube unit is an ideal middle ground between the larger pieces on our list. Each side is nicely thick and durable, and height-wise this can double as a nightstand too. Strong, stocky and sturdy, this solid unit may only have four shelves, but for the casual collector that might be just right.Īesthetically, it’s pretty basic, but looks much more professional than stacked crates or the connecting wired and plastic options out there. This can also be flipped on its side and used just as easily if you’ve got limited space to work with. Users have stored clothes, big hardcover books, even board games in the additional shelves. ![]() Each shelf can hold about 29 pounds of weight, so this can handle much more than just music. The cubes hold around 80 records each when really packed in tight, but with so many shelves, you’ll most likely be able to split them up. Strong, sturdy, and ready to hold a whole bunch of records, this shelf is an excellent option for any collector. These shelves are designed to fit a 12 x 12 album sleeve.Ī bonus: if you find that you’re satisfied with the shelves, but eventually run out of room, purchasing a second one and simply sliding them together can look like one giant continuous unit, keeping a neat and tidy aesthetic, and instantly doubling your storage space. These ones are simple to set up, have a wide range of space and actual shelves (as opposed to say, record crates), and can also provide extra storage for anything else that will fit. There are all sorts of of different sized shelving units out there, but we’ve narrowed it to our four favorite choices here. Record collecting is an endlessly fun hobby, whether it’s treasure-hunting at local thrift and music shops, flea markets, yard sales, or tracking down that rare, long-lost LP on eBay, and you’ll want to make sure you’ve got a shelf to comfortably hold it all without damage. ![]() A small shelf may hold everything you own now, but if you’re continuing to collect or just getting started, go for one with way more space than you need currently. When shopping for the best vinyl shelving online, consider what your future collection might look like a few years down the road. The best vinyl shelving keeps everything in one place and neatly stacked or organized. Even if you’re just a casual record enthusiast, or inherited a bunch from a friend or relative, you’ll still need somewhere to neatly store these records to properly take care of them in the long run. You don’t have to be an extensive collector either. These days, there are plenty of full-sized shelves available that can safely and securely hold your entire prized LP collection, giving you access alphabetically (or however you want to arrange them) to easily find the one you want to listen to, pick out, and drop it on the turntable. Get your records off the floor, out of the closet, or off of that too-small bookshelf where they’ve been awkwardly sitting for years. ![]() ![]() If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, Rolling Stone may receive an affiliate commission. ![]() ![]() ![]() If you use interactive skin binding, this mode is automatically selected for you. Your mesh will deform with normalized values, but the actual weight values on your skinCluster node may add up to more or less than 1. Note: Since Maya calculates the normalized weight values dynamically at deformation time, you cannot view the normalized values on the skinCluster node weightList attribute. These options can help you avoid letting the normalization process unintentionally set small weight values across many vertices. ![]() ![]() This drop-down list lets you set how you want smooth skin weights normalized. Sets the object to use a blend of classic linear and dual quaternion skinning, based on a per-vertex weight map that you paint. When a mesh is set to use dual quaternion skinning, volume is preserved even as it is influenced by a joint twisting on its axis. Use this method if you’re concerned with preserving volume in the mesh as it deforms around joints that twist. Sets the object to use dual quaternion skinning. When a mesh is set to linear skinning, it can lose volume in areas where it is influenced by a joint that is twisting on its axis. This mode allows some volume shrinking and collapse deformation effects to occur. Use this mode if you want basic smooth skin deformation effects, the same as in previous versions of Maya. Sets the object to use classic linear skinning. See also Smooth skinning methods for more information. Specify which skinning method you want to use for the selected deformable object. While legacy bind methods create artifacts, and Heat Map binding often fails on real-world meshes, the Geodesic Voxel bind method addresses these issues by using a voxelized representation of your character, computing the bind weights, and then applying the resulting weights to the existing closed-form skinning method, deforming the character's geometry. Uses a voxel representation of the mesh to help calculate influence weights. Higher (hotter) weight values occur closest to the joint, and dissipate to lower (cooler) values as you move away from the object. Initial weights are set based on each influence object inside the mesh acting as a heat source, emitting weight values onto the surrounding mesh. Uses a heat diffusion technique to distribute influence weights. For example, this method can prevent a right thigh joint from influencing nearby skin points on the left thigh. In character setup, this method can prevent inappropriate joint influences. Specifies that joint influence is based on the skeleton’s hierarchy. In character setup, this method can cause inappropriate joint influences, such as a right thigh joint influencing nearby skin points on the left thigh. When binding skin, Maya ignores the hierarchy of the skeleton. Specifies that joint influence is based only on proximity to the skin points. ![]() ![]() ![]() With MAME (and by creating MAME ROMs) gamers were able to save vast libraries of these videogames for posterity without having to have access to the actual videogame cartridges themselves or even the actual consoles, either! ![]() Everything aside from the rarest Nintendo games were being destroyed, thrown out, or lost to time altogether - particularly rare titles that didn't sell like a blockbuster at retail locations.
